Resto-Mod Builds.

Classic on the outside. Modern underneath. Built in Pelham, Alabama.

A resto-mod is a classic car you don't have to make excuses for. The body stays true to the year — the right lines, the right stance, the right badges — but underneath, everything is current. At Morgan Muscle Cars in Pelham, Alabama, that's a big part of what we build: cars that look like 1969 and drive like something off the showroom floor today.

It usually starts with an LS or LSX swap, then the rest of the car gets brought up to match — coilover suspension, big disc brakes, modern fuel injection, an overdrive or a proper manual. Our anchor build, Steve Morgan's 1969 Camaro RS Z28, runs an LSX 454 making close to 700 horsepower on a chassis built to put it down. That's the whole idea: real power, and a car that can actually handle it.

What goes into a resto-mod.

01

Modern Power

LS and LSX crate engines, fuel injection dialed in on a Holley controller, headers and cooling sorted for the street. The kind of power that's reliable on a Tuesday, not just impressive on a dyno sheet.

02

Chassis & Handling

Coilovers all four corners, sway bars, and quick-ratio steering. Rear ends narrowed and geared to fit the tires and the power — so the car tracks straight and reacts faster than the original ever could.

03

Brakes

Wilwood disc setups front and rear, sized to the weight and the horsepower — not just to fill the wheel. On a 700-horsepower classic, the brakes aren't optional hardware.

04

Driveability

Built to start on the first turn, idle in traffic, and cruise without fighting you. A dream car you'll actually drive — not one you're afraid to take out of the garage.

Resto-mods we've built.

Common questions.

A few things people ask about resto-mod builds.
What's the difference between a restoration and a resto-mod?

A restoration brings a car back to how it left the factory. A resto-mod keeps the classic body and looks but updates everything underneath — engine, suspension, brakes, and often the interior — so it drives like a modern car while still looking like the year it was built.

Do you do LS and LSX engine swaps?

Yes. LS and LSX swaps are central to most of our resto-mod builds. Our 1969 Camaro RS Z28 runs an LSX 454 making close to 700 horsepower, with the fuel injection dialed in on a Holley controller and the rest of the chassis built to handle it.

Can you build a resto-mod from a car I already own?

Absolutely. Most builds start with a car the owner already has. Bring us what you've got and we'll talk through what it takes to get it where you want it — power, stance, brakes, and interior.
